April 24, 2010 Greening Up the Mountains Festival, Downtown Sylva (SunTrust Bank Parking Lot) 10am-4pm CSA presents 12 demonstrating crafters/artists/writers dressed in period clothing in the "Traditional Heritage Walk" 10am-1pm CSA presents the 9th annual Heritage Alive! Youth Talent Contest—#1 (youth up to age 18 participating)
June 1-5, 2010 Patchwork Folk & Fabric Classes—Jackson County Recreation Center in Cullowhee, NC, featuring traditional Traditional Heritage classes scheduled for the week before the festival-- quilting,tin punching corn shuck dolls, red sock monkey dolls , crocheting, cross-stitching , dulcimer, ballad singing , children's cultural activities, gourd art, botanical illustration & wood carving. (2 rooms per day for a week). The items completed in the classes will be displayed at the festival on June 5. Call 828-399-0958 to register.

Oct. 23, 2010 Colorfest! Art of the Blue Ridge—Main & Mill Streets in Downtown Sylva, NC—Local Visual Artists Demonstrate in Street Fair 10am-4pm Beginning October 1st, each participating artist will be given a prime location inside the shops in Downtown Sylva where his/her work will be spotlighted during the beautiful fall color season in Western North Carolina. On the day of ColorFest, Art of the Blue Ridge, Saturday, October 23rd, the artists will set up easels on the street outside the shops, under awnings & colorful umbrellas, where they will interact with the public. Nov. 9, 2010 CSA Writers Performance—Jackson County Library, Main Street, Sylva, NC 7pm Catch the Spirit of Appalachia’s writing program will open with stories, poetry and song in a fast-paced production, showcasing the creative talents of local & regional writers. Immediately following will be the booksigning and reception with refreshments.
Dec. 4, 2010 Live Nativity—Saunooke Village, Cherokee, NC 6pm Featuring live camels & other animals, This nativity will come alive on the cobbled streets of Saunooke village. The Star of Bethlehem will shine down on four scenes to be presented: Gabriel, the angles, and the shepherds; Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus; King Herod & his court; and the wise men who traveled two years to find the child Jesus. The Live Nativity will feature songs of the season sung a cepella within each scene, live camels lead by the wise men, a donkey at the stable, and sheep led by the shepherds. Over 35 community members are involved in bringing alive the oldest story ever told.
